How It Works

How Gravity Filtration Works

Water flows from the upper chamber through the filter elements by gravity, then collects in the lower chamber and is ready to dispense.

1. Add Water

Pour water into the upper chamber. No electricity or plumbing is required.

2. Gravity Pulls Water Down

Water naturally moves through the filter elements by gravity.

3. Filtered Water Collects Below

Filtered water collects in the lower chamber and is ready to pour from the spigot.

Filter Replacement

Never Received The Stage 5 Filter I ordered

They sent me the Stage 3 Filter not the Stage 5. I can't reach anyone at the company, Customer service is a phone number in Chna. No way to return what I have or get what I asked for. Just got a contact us button that goes to nothing. Probably they won't show this review.

Clean, Great-Tasting Water So Far

So far, this water filtration system has exceeded my expectations. The setup was simple, and the difference in taste is immediately noticeable—the water is crisp and clean. It’s been working reliably, and I’m really happy with it overall.

The water filter you didn’t know you needed.

Excellent, compact water filtration system.

The set up was a bit tedious for me, but worth it. Currently, it’s on the stand at the sink. This was optimal for draining after priming the filters. The stand was wobbly so before refilling again removed it putting the filter directly on the edge of the counter.

The water tastes good, surprisingly after spring water forever. Usually drink room temp and fill 1-2 glass bottles to refrigerate.

Finally, no more buying jugs, gallons or cases of water taking up so much space!

Be careful about filling

This is a good item for pre filtered water. But you do have to be careful not to put too much on the top tank when there’s still plenty of water in the bottom tank. Water can leak out from between the two tanks. But that’s just a learning curve.

Very good quality and I would buy again

It takes a little while for the water to filter! So take time to check and keep filled

Good size and produces clean taste

Just the right size and noticed the taste was so much better. Having the smaller size is easier for me to refill!!

Just as Good as Berkey

Just as good as Berkey but half the price. I got the fluoride filter and my tap water that usually tastes like pool water now tastes amazing. I feel so good drinking this water. I’m not going anywhere without this filter!! The whole chamber filters pretty quickly in about 30 minutes.

Water filter

This was cheaper in price that the Berkeley and in my opinion just as good if not better! I did opt for the 3.5 gallon one because even though it’s just the two of us we drink and use a lot of water it turns out. Being able to filter the fluoride and the carbon filters out the rest of the junk in our city water. Yes you do have it get the fluoride filters separately. But all good it’s an awesome system! Coffe and cooking tastes so much better!!

I measured and timed the outflow...

I bought the 1 gallon Purewell gravity filter. The assembly directions were meh, but it was pretty simple to put together. Nothing leaks after several uses. At first, I didn't think the filter was working. It's VERY slow to start. Drip...drip...drip. Took all day. By the 3rd full cycle, however, it was much better. A thin but mostly continuous drizzle. And it tasted good. No funky taste or odors.

On cycle 4, I measured and timed the outflow. I filled the top chamber with a full gallon (4 quarts). It gets right to the top, but it does all fit. After one hour, I was able to dispense 6 cups of water (1 1/2 quarts). I had to tilt it a bit to top off that sixth cup. After a second hour, I was able to dispense about 5 and 2/3 cups of water, tilting again. So it does slow as the weight of the water pressing down on top lessens. The third hour, the flow pretty much stopped, so I went to bed. The next morning, there was very little to dispense. About 1/3 cup. 2 cups remained in the top chamber that never flowed through. And 2 cups remained in the bottom chamber below the spout, even after tilting. So the output is 3 quarts per cycle.

My conclusion: 6 cups an hour is plenty for myself and my husband while we're camping. We'll just have to refill the top chamber a few times a day. The filter's size is ideal for packing, and it appears to work well. I recommend running a few cycles through PRIOR to camping or you'll be thirsty that first day!

Purewell 1.5G Gravity Water Filter System

Great product for clean and healthy water!

Good size and works well

I got this filter to help reduce the occasional strange taste or odor in the city drinking water (and coffee tastes better, too). It has worked well for the past several months (almost a year). I have the 1.5 gallon version with 2 filters (no separate chlorine/fluorine filters, though it would accept them).
Negatives:
My biggest gripe is that _most_ of the parts are stainless, except for the washer they provide to go on the top handle. It rusted within a couple weeks of starting to use this. I stopped by my local Ace Hardware and replaced it with a true stainless steel washer - problem solved.
Second, the spigot sits up a bit from the bottom of the reservoir, so either leave about a pint of filtered water in the bottom, or tilt the whole unit to get the last of the water out. (I'm not sure that I've seen a better design with other suppliers). I've just been continually refilling it...
Positives:
I have been using the plastic spigot (it comes with a metal one as well). No issues with leakage (again, after several months of daily use).
The filter process is quick - faster than some other similar water filters quote in their specs (including that "B" company). I can fill up the top and have enough filtered water for morning coffee in just a couple minutes (before the bread pops up out of the toaster).
I definitely recommend getting the stand. It elevates the spigot high enough to easily fit my 2-cup (half liter) measure without having to tilt. Every coffee mug in the house also fits under with ease (one at a time :^)

Overall I am pleased with this unit and I would purchase it (or a bigger version) if I needed another water filter.

Purewell gravity fed water filter system

Excellent water filter, easy assembly, easy to clean, water comes out clean and tasting wonderful. No iron taste or funny smell whatsoever. Good value would definitely recommend especially if you have funky water it will save on having to purchase bottled water all the time, definitely a great investment for your home and family.

Perfect countertop water filter

I love this filter for my water. It takes away all of the funky water taste from our city water. It holds a lot. Seems to filter pretty fast no complaints.

Good Berkey alternative for the price. Filter took extra work priming

Seems like a solid alternative for the price for a gravity filter of this style. I like the 1 gallon size, since I live alone, and this is portable enough for travel. The filter didn't work as expected out of the box. I learned I had to prime the filter, however, pushing water through the nozzle from the sink didnt work for me as expected. I literally had to fill the upper jug full of water, hold it over my head, and suck with my mouth to get the water to initially pull through the filter to prime it. Not ideal, and I had to spend a decent amount of time to figure that out. If I hadn't gotten it primed my own way, I would have attempted to return this. So either get a primer pump along with this, or plan to "beta test" the filter once it arrives. Actual assembly is super easy, and took me about 10 minutes out of the box.

Perfect drinkable water for your home

I was gifted this from a friend and so far we really like it, except for inside the rim there is a small patch of rust ... I put a shout out to the company to see if I should oil it or something. I don't want rust getting into my drinking water.
UPDATE: After reaching out to the company they were very gracious and sent me a whole new unit. The first one I got was just one of those fluke's , LOL.. if it's going to happen it will happen to me... Any whoooo, the new one came yesterday and it's perfect!!! I highly recommend this unit... we live on the ocean and our water is ground water, it's awful, we've been having to lug 3 gallon jugs to the grocery store for the past 10 years for drinking water... We are now able to drink the water from our tap when we put it in this unit... it's AWESOME!!! Customer service from this company is A+...Would I buy from this company again???? Absolutely!!!
