This Policy applies to purchases made directly through www.purewell.com. If you purchased a Purewell product through another retailer, marketplace, reseller, or distributor, please contact that seller directly for their return and refund policy.

1. 30-Day Return Window

We offer a 30-day return window. This means you may request a return within 30 days after receiving your item, provided that the item meets the eligibility requirements in this Policy.

To start a return, you must contact us before sending any item back. Items returned without prior authorization may not be accepted.

2. Return Eligibility

To be eligible for a return, the product must generally be:

Purchased directly from Purewell.com.

Unless otherwise required by law or caused by Purewell’s error, customs duties, import taxes, VAT, and third-party fees are generally not refundable by Purewell.

20. EU and UK Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection rights, you may have additional rights that apply regardless of this Policy.

For eligible online purchases in the European Union, consumers generally have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days after receiving the goods, subject to legal exceptions. UK online consumers generally have similar cancellation rights. Certain items, including goods that are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed after delivery, may be excluded where permitted by law.

Nothing in this Policy limits your mandatory statutory rights.

21. Warranty Claims vs Returns

A return request is different from a warranty claim. Returns are generally handled within the return window and based on product condition. Warranty claims are handled under the applicable product warranty and may relate to defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period.

If your issue occurs after the return window, please contact us so we can determine whether warranty support may apply.

Dissatisfaction based solely on taste preference, flow rate expectations, local water conditions, or misunderstanding of filtration technology may not qualify as a defect unless verified through product evaluation or required by applicable law.

23. Policy Updates

We may update this Return & Refund Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our products, operations, logistics, legal requirements, or customer service procedures. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.

24. Contact Us

If you have questions about returns, refunds, exchanges, damaged items, missing items, or warranty support, please contact Purewell through the contact information provided on our website.

More Than a Product Claim: Evidence You Can Check

Certification standards and independent test reports help customers understand what a filtration product has actually been evaluated for. Instead of relying only on packaging, advertising, or marketplace descriptions, you can review the applicable standard, product model, tested claim, and supporting documentation.

Documentation Across Purewell Filtration Products Purewell filtration systems and replacement filters are supported by corresponding certification and/or test documentation. Customers can review system documents, filter documents, and performance reports through the Purewell Test Reports page.

Verifiable Evidence

NSF/ANSI 42

Drinking Water Treatment Units — Aesthetic Effects

What Does It Mean in Everyday Language?

This standard evaluates drinking-water treatment products for specified effects that influence the appearance, taste, smell, or everyday drinking experience of water.

Chlorine reduction, when listed

Taste and odor reduction, when listed

Particulate reduction, when listed

Materials, construction, and performance requirements

Certification Is Claim-Specific NSF/ANSI 42 does not automatically mean that a product reduces every contaminant. Check the certificate or listing for the exact model and certified reduction claims.

372

NSF/ANSI/CAN 372

Drinking Water System Components — Lead Content

What Does It Mean in Everyday Language?

This standard evaluates the lead content of materials and components that come into contact with drinking water, using defined calculations and verification procedures.

Evaluates wetted product components

Verifies applicable lead-content limits

Reviews materials used in the water pathway

Supports lead-content compliance verification

Lead Content Is Not Lead Reduction NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 evaluates lead content in product materials. It does not by itself certify that a filter removes lead already present in the source water.

From a Marketing Claim to Verifiable Evidence

Reliable documentation connects a standard to an identifiable product, a defined test scope, and a report or certificate that customers can review.

Identify the Standard Confirm whether the document refers to NSF/ANSI 42, NSF/ANSI/CAN 372, or another applicable standard.

Match the Product Check that the brand, product type, component, or model matches the item being sold.

Read the Test Scope Review exactly what was evaluated, including the reduction claim, material requirement, test condition, or performance category.

Review the Evidence Open the certificate, listing, or laboratory report instead of relying only on a badge or unsupported product description.

Product with Verifiable Documentation Claims can be checked against supporting evidence.

The applicable product or component can be identified.
The meaning and scope of the standard can be reviewed.
Specific performance claims can be checked against a report.
Customers can distinguish certification from general testing.
Material and performance claims have a documented basis.

Documentation does not mean every possible contaminant has been tested. It provides evidence for the specific scope shown in the applicable certificate or report.

Product Without Accessible Evidence Important claims may be difficult to confirm.

A standard logo may appear without a matching certificate.
The tested model may differ from the product being purchased.
Broad removal claims may exceed the actual test scope.
Lead-content compliance may be unclear or undocumented.
Customers may be unable to verify the source or date of a report.

An unavailable report does not automatically prove that a product is unsafe. However, it prevents customers from independently confirming the advertised certification and performance claims.

Documentation Available from Purewell

Purewell organizes supporting documents by system, filter, standard, and filtration performance so customers can review the evidence relevant to their product.

Filter System Documents Certification or test documentation associated with applicable complete filtration-system components.

Replacement Filter Documents Supporting documentation associated with applicable Purewell replacement filters and filter elements.

Performance Test Reports Laboratory reports covering specified filtration-performance categories under defined test conditions.

Customer-Accessible Files Downloadable documents provide more transparency than a badge, short claim, or marketplace product description alone.

Important Certification Notes

Reading the standard correctly is as important as seeing the certification or test badge.

Check the Exact Product or Component Certification and test results should be matched to the applicable product, filter, component, model, or documented product family.

Check the Exact Certified Claim A product certified under NSF/ANSI 42 may support only the reduction claims specifically shown in its certificate or listing.

372 Does Not Mean Lead Removal NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 concerns lead content in wetted materials. Lead reduction from source water requires a separate applicable filtration-performance claim.

Certification and Testing Are Different A certification, a component certification, and an independent laboratory test report are different forms of evidence and should be described accurately.

Review Test Conditions Results may depend on source-water conditions, flow rate, capacity, product setup, test protocol, and filter condition.

Replace Filters as Directed Certification or testing does not make a filter permanent. Follow the applicable installation, flushing, use, and replacement instructions.

Hollow Fiber Ultrafiltration Technology

Fine Physical Filtration with a Hollow Fiber UF Membrane

Thousands of fine, straw-like membrane fibers create a compact physical filtration barrier. Water passes through microscopic pores, while larger suspended particles are retained on the other side of the membrane.

Standard UF Membrane Configuration Hollow fiber UF membrane technology is built into applicable Purewell portable filtration systems as a core physical filtration component—not an optional add-on.

Purewell Standard

Physical Separation Process

Source Water

Filtered Water

Larger suspended particles are retained

Water passes through microscopic membrane pores

How the Membrane Works

The membrane performs filtration through physical separation rather than adding chemicals to the water.

Source Water Enters Water reaches the outside of the hollow fiber membrane bundle.

Water Crosses the Membrane Wall Gravity, pressure, or the system pump moves water through the microscopic pores in each fiber.

Larger Particles Are Retained Suspended matter larger than the membrane pores is physically blocked from passing through.

Filtered Water Flows Out Water travels through the hollow center of the fibers and exits the filtration system for use.

Fine Physical Barrier Helps separate suspended sediment, fine particles, turbidity, and other contaminants larger than the membrane pores.

Large Filtration Area Bundles of narrow fibers provide a large membrane surface area within a compact filter structure.

Practical Water Flow Multiple hollow fibers work together to balance fine filtration with practical flow for portable use.

No Chemical Additives The membrane filters through physical separation and does not add treatment chemicals to the source water.

✓ Designed to Help Reduce

Suspended sediment and fine particles
Turbidity and visible particulate matter
Microplastics larger than the membrane pores
Certain microorganisms, depending on membrane specifications

i Understand the Filtration Limit

Does not desalinate water or remove dissolved salts
Does not soften hard water by itself
May not reduce all dissolved chemicals or metal ions alone
Additional filter media may be used for broader filtration

Important Use and Care Notes

Proper use and maintenance help protect membrane performance and maintain water flow.

Choose the Clearest Available Water Avoid heavily polluted water whenever possible. Allow sediment to settle or use a pre-filter when the source water is highly turbid.

Do Not Use with Saltwater or Chemicals The membrane is not designed for seawater, industrial wastewater, oil-contaminated water, or chemically polluted sources.

Rinse or Backwash as Directed Clean the membrane according to the product instructions when flow becomes slower due to accumulated particles.

Protect the Wet Membrane from Freezing Once used, water may remain inside the fibers. Freezing can damage the membrane structure and affect filtration integrity.

Follow Storage Instructions Clean and store the filter as described in the product manual when it will not be used for an extended period.

Replace at the End of Service Life Replace the filter when its rated capacity is reached, the membrane is damaged, or normal flow cannot be restored after cleaning.

Filtration performance varies by product model, membrane specification, source-water quality, operating conditions, and maintenance. Hollow fiber UF filtration is one component of the complete filtration system.

Coconut Shell Activated Carbon Technology

Coconut Shell Activated Carbon Designed to Improve Water Taste and Odor

Where listed in the applicable Purewell product specification, the filtration media uses activated carbon derived from coconut shells. The coconut shells are processed to create a network of microscopic pores and a large internal surface area. As water moves through the media, certain compounds are attracted to and held on the carbon surface through a process known as adsorption.

Coconut Shell–Derived Activated Carbon Media Where activated carbon is listed in the product specification, Purewell uses activated carbon derived from coconut shells as part of the standard filter construction rather than offering it only as an optional upgrade.

Purewell Standard

Adsorption Inside the Carbon Media

Incoming Water

Water Flows Out

Water carries chlorine, taste, odor, and certain organic compounds

Certain compounds are held within the porous carbon surface

Water continues through the filtration system

How Activated Carbon Works

Coconut shells are converted into highly porous activated carbon. The media primarily works through adsorption, meaning certain compounds are attracted to the carbon surface instead of simply being screened out by pore size.

Water Enters the Carbon Media Source water flows around and between the activated carbon particles inside the filter.

Water Contacts the Porous Coconut Carbon Processing the coconut shell material creates microscopic pores and a large internal surface area for water and dissolved compounds to contact.

Certain Compounds Are Adsorbed Chlorine, taste-and-odor compounds, and certain organic substances may be attracted to and held on the carbon surface.

Water Continues Through the Filter After contacting the carbon media, water moves to the next filtration stage or exits the system, depending on the filter design.

Improves Taste and Odor Helps reduce compounds that can create unwanted tastes or odors in drinking water.

Helps Reduce Chlorine Activated carbon is commonly used to help reduce chlorine taste and odor in treated municipal water.

High Internal Surface Area A network of microscopic pores creates extensive contact area within a compact amount of filter media.

No Treatment Chemicals Added Activated carbon performs through surface adsorption and does not require chemicals to be added to the water.

Coconut Shell–Derived Media Uses activated carbon made from processed coconut shells, where specified for the applicable Purewell filter.

✓ Designed to Help Reduce

Chlorine taste and odor
Unpleasant tastes and smells
Certain volatile organic compounds
Certain adsorption-sensitive organic substances

i Understand the Filtration Limit

Does not normally reduce dissolved salts or TDS
Does not soften hard water by itself
Is not a complete microbiological barrier on its own
Does not reduce every contaminant without additional media

Important Use and Care Notes

Correct preparation and timely replacement help maintain adsorption performance and water quality.

Flush Before First Use Flush the filter according to the product instructions before drinking. This helps remove loose carbon fines and trapped air.

Temporary Carbon Fines May Appear A small amount of dark carbon dust may appear during initial rinsing. Continue flushing until the water runs clear.

Use Within the Recommended Temperature Range Do not use hot water unless the specific product instructions state that the filter is designed for hot-water use.

Use with an Appropriate Water Source Activated carbon alone does not make microbiologically unsafe, industrially polluted, or saltwater sources suitable for drinking.

Replace the Filter on Schedule Adsorption sites gradually become occupied. Replace the filter when its rated life is reached or when taste and odor reduction noticeably declines.

Follow Storage Instructions Clean and store the filter as directed when the system will not be used for an extended period. Do not leave stagnant water in the system longer than recommended.

Coconut Allergy Precaution This filtration media is derived from coconut shells. People with a known coconut allergy or sensitivity should review the product materials and consult a qualified healthcare professional before use.

Filtration performance depends on the activated carbon type, carbon quantity, contact time, water quality, flow rate, product design, and maintenance. Specific contaminant-reduction claims should be based on the applicable Purewell product specifications and test results.

Two Real Outdoor Water Intake Methods

Use the bottom intake port directly in clear water, or connect the extension hose to the bottom intake port when drawing water from cloudy or debris-filled sources.

Direct Bottom Intake Mode

Place the bottle base into clear source water. After starting the purifier, water enters from the bottom intake port and flows through the internal filtration system.

Place the bottle base in clear water

Put the bottom intake area into clear source water. Make sure the intake port can contact the water properly.

Keep the water level suitable

Before starting, ensure the water level is enough for the bottom intake port to draw water smoothly.

Press the power button

Press once to start electric filtration. Water enters from the bottom and moves through the filter system.

Drink after filtration

Filtered water is stored inside the bottle for convenient outdoor drinking.

Best for: Clear water sources that are easy to access, such as clear streams, clean rainwater, or other low-sediment outdoor water sources.

Extension Hose Intake Mode

Connect the hose to the bottom intake port. The hose helps draw water from the source without placing the entire bottle base into debris-heavy water.

Connect the hose to the bottom intake port

Attach the extension hose to the intake port located near the bottom of the bottle.

Place the hose inlet into the water source

Put the hose inlet into the water and choose a clearer area away from mud, leaves, or heavy sediment.

Press the power button

Start the purifier. Water is drawn through the hose, enters from the bottom intake port, and passes through the filter.

Stop and clean after use

Press again to stop. Remove the hose and keep the inlet, hose, and bottle base clean for the next use.

Back country tested.

I was really pleased with the overall return on investment with these water bottles. As a backpack when I do small treks or even through country treks I am always in need of a solid water bottle an these came in clutch. The only thing anyone would complain about would be the amount of force needed to pull water in through the straw but thats would be the same with any water filter when it is first used. So, besides that I think they are a great choice.

We love hearing this — thank you for trusting Purewell with your daily water. Here is to many more clean, fresh glasses!

Excellent Bottle for World Travel

We have been traveling in Europe countryside for some time and the water system is always supposedly safe to drink but we do not take chances. This bottle made mostly for campers is the next best thing to having a water filter at home. Its your carry-on filter. So if you don't have bottled water available, this will keep you safe. The only small issue is that you need to pull a bit on the straw than with normal bottles and it does make a slight hissing noise. I would buy it again.

Thanks a lot for the great review! Stories like yours keep us motivated. Cheers to great-tasting water!

Works

Seems have a filter that would clean less than stellar water. I like it.

We love hearing this — thank you for trusting Purewell with your daily water. Here is to many more clean, fresh glasses!

Buyer Beware

Horrible product and worst customer service. Bought unit as coworker had something similar for travel. Got it in August, was grounded for 7 weeks. Used on first trip and the amount of water that comes through normal use is 2-3 Tbls. The noise it makes is embarrassing and not needed. They refused my exchange for a working unit.

We are sorry to hear about this. Reach out to support@purewell.com with your order details and we will get a replacement or refund sorted quickly.

Honest Reivew

Took this from the U.s. to Italy works as it should really works and happy with the results

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are thrilled the filter is working out for you — enjoy every glass of clean water!

Eau goût piscine

Produit de qualité mais j'ai changé de gourde à cause du goût eau de piscine

Sorry the taste was not what you expected — a quick flush of a fresh filter usually clears any initial carbon fines. Reach out to support@purewell.com and we will make it right.

Soak the carbon filter for at least an hour. Repeatedly spit out the first couple of pulls.

This did not work very well for me. Note that you need to soak the carbon filter for at least an hour and then repeatedly spit out the first couple of pulls. The water does not free flow and you need to use a lot of effort to get the water out. I actually became sick from the filter. I want to return but it's too much of a hassle so now I just have an over priced plastic water bottle because I can't use the filter.

Sorry for the trouble — this is not the quality we stand behind. Contact support@purewell.com and we will resolve it for you right away.

Clean water

These are good water bottles with the filters that takes all the bad stuff out of the water ever from the lakes only downfall is it’s a plastic, but other than that, I like them

Thanks for the feedback on setup — a full-size printable manual is available at purewell.com, and support@purewell.com can walk you through it step by step.

Excellent! Highly recommend!

Excellent water bottle. Tough when dropped. Doesn't leak laying on its side. Water tastes fresh everytime. No smell.Sucking water up through the filtration system is not difficult at all as some suggest. Did have to prime the filter by sucking out all the air when first filled as it is a layered filtration system which u want. It doesn't pour out, but not hard to get a good drink when thirsty. Temperatures were in the 100°'s. Replacement filters are not an issue. Took it all over Europe never had a problem. Love it! Will buy again and replacement filters. Regular size of Nalgen bottles. Color bought was grey and worked well. Airport security loved the "see through" aspect. Will also go back and buy smaller size for airport travel as the larger size didn't fit in regular cup holders but held more water and clipped securely to back pack without issue.Could fill up anywhere without worrying about waterquality. Came home and dried out filter without issue. Used 10 days. 0.01 micron filter.

So happy to hear you are loving your Purewell system. Thanks for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review!

Sticky water?

Good. Helps with water taste. I don't think it lasts that many gallons or 6 months. It starts to leak some sticky thing.

Zero impurities

Some hotels I stay at have water that smells like bleach. This helps me feel better about drinking hotel water. My meter reads "0" for impurities

Thanks a lot for the great review! Stories like yours keep us motivated. Cheers to great-tasting water!
