How It Works
Working Principle

How the Portable RO Water Filter System Works

The system draws source water through the white RAW water line, moves it through multiple filtration and treatment components, separates purified water from concentrated drain water, and sends each water stream to its corresponding outlet.

Water Treatment Path From Source Water to Purified Water
Input General Outdoor Freshwater

Source water enters through the white RAW pipe and intake pre-filter.

Raw Water TDS
Pure Water TDS
01
Intake Pre-Filtration Stainless steel mesh and medical PP cotton help capture larger debris, sediment, rust, and suspended particles.
02
Activated Carbon Treatment Helps reduce chlorine, color, unpleasant taste, odor, and selected organic substances.
03
Reverse Osmosis Separation The RO membrane separates purified water from dissolved solids and concentrated drain water.
04
UV Treatment Built-in UV treatment provides an additional stage targeting bacteria and viruses during operation.
Blue PURE Outlet Purified Water

Sent to the faucet or a clean water collection container.

Red DIRTY Outlet Concentrated Water

Directed away from the system through the drain-water pipe.

White · RAW Blue · PURE Red · DIRTY
01
Draw Water Through the RAW Inlet

The electric pump draws source water through the intake pre-filter and white RAW water pipe. The intake pre-filter helps prevent larger outdoor debris from entering the system.

02
Complete Pre-Filtration and Carbon Treatment

Medical PP cotton helps capture sediment and fine particles. Activated carbon then helps improve water color, taste, odor, and chlorine-related characteristics.

03
Separate Water Through the RO Membrane

Pressure moves the pretreated water through the reverse osmosis membrane. Purified water passes through the membrane, while concentrated water is directed toward the DIRTY outlet.

04
Apply UV Treatment

The built-in UV system operates as an additional treatment stage while water is being produced. The UV indicator shows its operating status on the control display.

05
Monitor Raw and Purified Water TDS

The display shows the TDS level of both the incoming source water and the purified water, helping users monitor changes in system performance.

06
Collect Pure Water and Drain Concentrated Water

Purified water exits through the blue PURE line for collection. Concentrated water exits separately through the red DIRTY line and should be directed to a suitable drainage location.

Automatic cleaning: When the purifier is powered on, the system begins an automatic flushing process. Wait until the flushing indicator turns off before evaluating normal water production.
System Type Pump-Driven Portable RO System

Uses electric pressure instead of gravity alone.

Main Treatment Path Pre-Filter + Carbon + RO + UV

Groups the primary functional components of the system.

Water Quality Display Raw TDS & Pure TDS

Displays incoming and purified-water TDS readings.

Separate Outputs PURE Water + DIRTY Water

Purified and concentrated water leave through separate pipes.

Filtration-stage note: The product manual identifies the complete K8680 system as a 10-stage filtration system. For easier customer understanding, this working-principle module groups those stages into the main functional components: intake pre-filtration, activated carbon, reverse osmosis, and UV treatment.
Water source notice: The system is designed for general outdoor freshwater sources. It is not intended for seawater, industrial wastewater, chemically contaminated water, or water outside the recommended operating range.

I got the orange one, love it.

I will be using it this weekend on a camping trip in my new minimalist camper/ off road vehicle. Everyone who is going is so jealous as they have to cart in water and I will just make mine creek side. I see more sales in the future for the purewell. Ps don’t sell them any orange ones. Just kidding.

Awesome mobile RO unit

This unit makes a gallon of filtered water in less than fifteen minutes.
This review is also to acknowledge the awesome support we received after we purchased this RO. When it arrived it was missing the three tubbings and there was a crack on the screen. Things happen and I appreciate the service provided. The service was prompt and taken care of. I would order from this company again. Thank you for standing behind your product.

Reliable and Fully Prepared Water Purifier for Emergency Use

I chose this product from a brand I personally trust for emergency preparedness. The best part is how everything fits snugly in a dedicated carrying bag, making it easy to store and transport. You can keep it with your other survival gear unused, and it’s ready when needed in an emergency. The manual is included, so it’s clear what to do, and all parts are neatly organized. The unit is very compact, yet it is designed with a reverse osmosis system for producing drinking water. The three extension tubes are stored in a pocket at the bottom of the bag (in the unit I received), and many might overlook them, so be sure to check carefully.

The replacement filter is expensive; however, it may last 1–3 years depending on water quality, which gives peace of mind that, with just one extra filter (purchased separately) on hand, you’re better prepared to handle a wide range of survival scenarios.

One note: the filter cap with the compass is quite tight, so I recommend adding a pair of non-slip gloves or a piece of grippy cloth into the bag. That way, this set alone feels sufficient for producing drinking water in case of emergency.

Perfect for temporary or emergency situations!

While being kind of a Niche, this RO system is a great prepping tool. Now, nothing beats water storage, but what happens when that water supply you thought was good is actually contaminated? That's where RO comes in. The membranes filter TDS (total dissolved solids) from water by having holes too slamm for particles to pass through, except water. This is battery powered so don't expect a daily supply of water. But if your power is out or supply is bad, you can use this to filter river or pond water. Theoretically this will desalinate sea water, but I wouldnt use it for that as the internals are probably not rates for salt.

This will reduce your TDS to under 50ppm which is considered safe for consumption. Actually very clean water. Just know that this also removes minerals, so you will need them from another source if you primarily drink RO water.

You can test the water with a TDS meter, and monitor the membrane quality. It is always recommended to build your water if it's from a natural source (river pons creek ECT). But as a last resort or emergency this would suffice alone. Boiling and using this machine? You have better water than 98% of people on earth.

The faucet is nice and this would be a great unit for say a hunting cabin, or RV/camper. But my purpose is prepping, and this unit is perfect for my needs. I already have a RO system in my home and I just can't go back to city water now that I've tasted the RO water!

Great for the emergency stash.

My husband has been playing with this and he says it works well. It's excellent for an emergency, provided you have a power source. Our generator ran it just fine. The water tasted fantastic as well.

Clean water!

After the 2024 hurricane season I knew I needed a way to make sure my family always had access to fresh water. This portable RO water filter is AMAZING. It's rechargeable, but you can also use it while plugged in. It's truly portable--everything you need is in a zippered bag, and they've even gone the extra mile and made it organized. The instructions are so clear and it's surprisingly easy to use. The peace of mind is so worth the cost!

Compact, Powerful, and Reliable Water Purifier – Exceeded Expectations

I’ll admit I was skeptical about this unit at first, having had mixed results with other water purifiers in the past. However, the Purewell® K8680 RO Water Purifier System really impressed me right out of the box. What stands out is its compact and portable design—it’s lightweight, battery-powered, and built to travel, yet it doesn’t sacrifice performance.

The purification speed is surprisingly fast for such a small unit. In my initial tests, it took my tap water from 150–160 ppm total dissolved solids all the way down to under 10 ppm, with some readings as low as 004 ppm. That’s remarkable. I also appreciate the added peace of mind with the built-in UV sterilization light, which adds an extra layer of protection.

The battery life is equally impressive. Even after purifying several gallons of water, the battery level hardly dropped, and recharging is easy with the included USB-C cable and plug. For camping, RV travel, or even emergency preparedness, this is an outstanding piece of survival gear.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable, portable, and effective water purification solution.

Surprisingly effective..!!!

Tested my tap water which read 376 ppm then ran the same water source thru the system and tested it again post filtration and read 15ppm. Was shockingly surprised at the results and very happy. Would like the hose material to be more flexible but I can live with it.

Water produced tastes good and has no oder.

Works better than any purifier I've ever had. I can filter the most murky, moss covered water and it comes out pure and clean with no foul taste or oder. It like getting bottled water from the store. Takes about 30 minutes to produce a gallon, but is well worth the wait. Produces approximately 10 gallon fully charged.

My rainwater taste great!

The machine works as it should. Mine will be used on my homestead to supply my drinking water from rainwater. I filled 8 gallons, at about 10 minutes per gallon. The battery showed no decrease, and the water tasted great. I wish the USB-C port cover was attached to the machine. I think I have lost it already. It seems to waste a lot of water through the dirty water outlet. I will measure it next time, but I would say it is almost 1 gallon of drinking water to 1 gallon of dirty wastewater. In a place where I live off summer monsoons and occasional winter snowstorms, it seems like a huge waste of a precious resource.

Nice product!

I use this filter for the water that was cloudy, smelly and full of floating debris. It turns the water into clean, great-tasting water! Hoping it’s reliable—it’s a perfect simple solution for emergencies and health needs, way better than other options. Ultra portable (fits in a backpack for bug-outs) and easy to charge via USB-C. No downsides at all!
