How It Works

How the Filter System Works

Water is added to the upper chamber and moves through the center filter by gravity. After filtration, water collects in the lower chamber and is ready to dispense from the spigot.

1. Fill the Upper Chamber

Add water to the top chamber. The system works without electricity, plumbing, or pressure.

2. Gravity Moves Water Through the Filter

Water naturally flows downward through the center filter element, where the filtration process takes place.

3. Filtered Water Collects Below

After passing through the filter, water collects in the lower chamber for storage and daily use.

4. Dispense When Needed

Open the spigot to pour filtered water for drinking, cooking, or everyday hydration.

Works great.

These water filters work very well at eliminating contaminants and providing clean water on demand. It has a large reservoir capacity that could easily last all day for drinking water.

It Works and Water Tastes Great

This is a great alternative to the more expensive Gravity Fed Water filters and it's working just as good. Easy to assemble and fill. Wish I had gotten this sooner. I definitely recommend it!!

Great for filtering tap water

I like that this doesn’t require me to permanently install anything, and the filters are easy to change. I dislike that this system only does chlorine. I wish I would have gotten the one does chlorine and fluoride. I would highly recommend you go for the dual filtration system. The window on the front near the spout is one of the best things I have seen on these types of filters, and I have tried my fair share of them out. I love that I can see when I need to add more water without having to open it up and look in, especially since I am short and that required a stool. I am also very happy that it is all stainless steel, so I don’t have to worry about it rusting out, or plastic leeching into my water. This does a great job giving you nice potable, drinking water that doesn’t have that nasty chlorine taste and smell.

Perfect for RVing

We bought this for our Motorhome. We were worried about the quality of some of the water being supplied at campgrounds so we thought this would be a great way to filter it. The water tastes great and we don’t have to worry about using water from our holding tanks. It is a great countertop size and install was easy following directions.

Worked very well

I love the design but I wouldn't leave it near anyone clumsy enough to bump it. You’ll have water everywhere. The directions mentioned to run a full cycle/tank of water through the filter once installed to remove debris, etc. well, I follow those instructions and still found tons of floaters in my first few glasses water after that process. So maybe it’s takes two full passes before seeing super clear water.

Taste good

Comes well packaged, easy to figure out how to set up, and the filtered water tastes good. It is a good size so you don't need to constantly refill.

Works great and is the perfect size for camping, an RV, or for a smaller family

This water filter system looks and works just like our Berkey system. It does a great job of filtering the water and it’s the perfect size to take with us on campouts. I really like that the spigot is stainless steel and that it comes with the glass water level indicator. It even comes with a stand to hold it up off the table to make filling glasses easier.

The main thing to remember is that the filters need to be primed before use or it will work very slowly until the entire filter is permeated with the water. I have a handheld primer that I use with my other filters that made quick work of it, but the priming instructions that came with this system don’t work with the type of faucet that I have.

After use, if you’re going to store the system and the filters (like I do after camping trips), the filters need to be drained and dried so that they will store without molding. This is where the hand primer comes in handy again.

The water from this system tastes great and it is so convenient to have where water quality may not be ideal. My grandchildren were able to easily work the spigot without spilling or making a mess. The whole system stores compactly within itself for when you don’t need it. This is also a great option for daily countertop use.

Remember that this is a gravity fed filtering system and don’t overfill it. You shouldn’t fill the top unless there is room in the bottom for the water or it might overflow at the seam (which isn’t sealed). You should also try to avoid letting the filters dry out completely unless you are getting ready to store it. The system comes with the tools necessary to secure the filters as well as remove them for storage.

great value

This is really a nice countertop water filter it takes out all the impurities and you can taste the difference from the tap

Works very well

This unit filters as promised and the water tastes great! It gets four stars just because it's too tall. If it was more compact, I'd like it better. That's the only thing I don't like about it.

Update: This filter is still going strong and giving us great tasting, clear water! I haven't had to replace the cartridges yet, either. I'm upgrading my rating to five stars because it's still filtering so well. I also like that I can buy replacement components if I need them. This gravity fed filter is a fantastic investment.

Definitely makes my water taste much better.

My local city water runs a TDS of about 300, but the taste, especially in summer, is terrible. I popped this filter out of the box, set it up with only a little fuss (the washers!) and put it in service. I did run water through the unit to make sure that we were free of any debris and manufacturing bits, then gave it a taste. The water no longer had the strong chlorine taste or other off flavors or odors, more of a "nothing" taste of generally well-filtered water. I have tried Brita and other countertop filters and was unable to fully clear the chlorine with any of them, so I am quite satisfied with the performance of this filtration unit.

Clean water

This is a beautiful piece of equipment that is easy to put together and easy to use. It actually seems smaller to me than I would have expected (which is a good thing). I haven't had any issues with it, it works well and the water comes out tasting great. It's a good thing to have on hand for camping but especially good to have for emergencies.

Produces Excellent Water

This is my second one of these. The first one works fine but, and this is true of this one as well, if you fill up the top half too much, after the bottom is full, it leaks at the seam between the two halves. So I wanted one with a Sight Glass so I could see how full the bottom half is. As with the original, the directions are a bit vague and that is compounded by the fact that there is a set of instructions that comes with the unit, then another set with the filters and they don't exactly agree. Also some seemingly extraneous parts but after doing this for a second time, it makes a lot more sense. Still, the directions should be clearer. Plan on spending about 45 minutes putting this together, 15 actually assembling the parts and 30 minutes soaking the filters. We already have pretty good water from our well but this helps ensure that any ground contaminants are removed and gives a bit of added protection. It's not inexpensive but cheaper than bottled water but a lot and less expensive than the name brand units.

Purified drinking water is a must have. This is a good way to get some.

I didn't post any pictures because the ones the vendor posted are very good and accurate.

I have been using gravity type water filters/purifiers for a few decades now. I wouldn't be without one.
If you actually research what is in your city, town or well water - it will scare you.
You need something like this to ensure your water is free from things like lead, chlorine, heavy metals, medical waste including medicine, micro plastics, floride - the list goes on and on.

This filter system is exceptionally well made and comes with everything you need to get going. It includes the filters, stand and a spigot with a sight glass. Super easy to use and once you use one of these you will never drink or cook with tap water again.

I think these things are great. This one has terrific build quality and I absolutely consider it a good value.

TDS reading of house water dropped from 234 PPM to 45.3 PPM with this system. See more..

I'm in an area known for poor water quality so we need to go steps to try and better purify the water supplied by our city. You can see the reading that I took today of water right from the tap. It shows 234 PPM. And that is water that has already been run through a whole house sediment filter and water softener. I then took another reading using a brand-new water filter in my refrigerator and it dropped the PPM to 189. But taking the same tap water and putting it into the Purewal system dropped it way down to 45 PPM. In conclusion, I'm really sold on the effectiveness of this system and its performance.

The only issues I had were with the instructions and thinking I was missing parts. Turned out I wasn't so don't get caught as I did. If you look at the instructions, you'll see that you need four washers to install the two water filters. The water filters only come with two washers. And no, the yellow ring that looks like a washer isn't one. It is used to flush and set up the filters. So where will you find the washers? They are on the two white plugs that the directions don't mention that I'm showing in one of my photos. Each plug has two washers. Just take one of the washers off and use it for the underside of the filters. You'll also find an extra black spout. Save it and put it away should you ever need to replace the nice silver one with the water level display. The water level display is especially nice. There is a little red ball that quickly shows how much water remains in the bottom bucket. It takes a while for the water to filter through so you may want to top it off every day to make sure the water is available when you need it.

Purcell Gravity Water Filter System

This style water filter system is very popular among RVers and people who live or spend a lot of time traveling, camping, and or living a mobile lifestyle. I decided to try this because I will be moving soon and this can come with me. This brand comes in three styles and I choose the stainless steel as it matches my appliances. The instructions for this are fairly easy to follow. I spent about 20 minutes looking them over and developing an understanding of how this system works. I found out that everything that I need to assemble the system is included. All nuts, washers, filters, and screwdriver and wrench and all necessary parts. Assembly is not difficult and took maybe 15 minutes including the time spent throughly cleaning everything and flushing both filters according to directions. This comes with two spigots. One is the plain simple type with a simple open/close latch. The second has an additional area on the front which allows assessment of how much water is inside the system without actually opening it up to look inside. Well, I decided to use the measuring spigot at least for now to at least try it out. As it turns out it does help. It is important not to overfill. And the filtering takes time. It needs to be started and completed ahead of time if say a certain amount of water will be needed for cooking. Once assembled this is quite easy to use. It is a good idea to set this up next to your water source for easy filling. The filters are good for three to six months and I was able to find them for sale on Amazon. There is a variety of different filters available so I decided to purchase a water contamination test kit to check and see if I might benefit from additional filtering. I ordered it from Amazon, they have several different types. Of course this not really necessary. But I feel that I have this wonderful system and might as well get full benefit from it. Currently my water tastes pretty good out of my new filter system and the entire system works well. I have no complaints about this system and I’m waiting on my water test kit. One caveat about this system. This size of filter system has a 2.25 gallon capacity. Anyone with a large family or who uses a lot of water for cooking or drinking may want to consider a larger system. The real cost for a system like this are the filters so consider carefully what your needs are.

NICE

We picked this up to have incase of emergency.
Everything looks and feels well made.
We are glad it has a stand, we saw some systems did not include a stand.
We are pleased and would buy again.

Works okay

Although we have noticed a slight improvement to our water, it still tastes a bit off. It does take a long time for the water to filter through, but it was very easy to put together and looks great anywhere. I do wish it was bigger

No plumbing needed

Wow no under cabinet plumbing needed, this was a big plus for me. Water filter can be moved easily from room to room and no need to plug up to power. If you loose power during a storm water can still be filtered. I am filtering city water with plenty of chlorine in it. So far system is working good and water tastes has improved.

Way better than the fridge pitchers.

I drink a lot of filtered water. I have one of those 64 oz stainless steel growlers that goes everywhere with me. I was getting tired of having to refill the fridge pitcher over and over again. So, this is a much more convenient and time-saving solution for me.

I can get about 4 refills out of this without having to refill it and since it lives on my kitchen counter when I do need to refill it I can just use the sink hose to refill it easily. The only drawback (minor one) is that the water isn't cold anymore, but, honestly, I could care less. I like being able to see the water level on the side which is way better than the float ball model I had before this.

The water tastes clean and filtered. The filters should last me about a year even with the 6000 gallon lifespan rating.

8/10 I would recommend it. I hope this review is helpful.

No need to by bottles of drinking water anymore

Our water taste and smelled horrible so I have been buying bottled water for drinking for a long time. After getting this waterfiltration system I no longer have to buy bottled water. It was fairly easy to put together after reading the directions. It came with everything I needed to install it. Now I have good tasting water and not have all those plastic bottles to recycle. This unit is a little expensive but over time it will pay for itself and it will help save our planet.

high price but works as it should

this water filter system is expensive for what it is in my opinion. The instructions are not clear and you will need to take some time to figure out what exactly needs to be used and what is extra parts. however once it is together it has a large capacity for water and it does a good job making our water taste and look good. We got this because our water had a nasty smell and a discoloration to it and now we can feel safe about drinking our water. It has a nice stand but if you are going to place this on a counter it is very tall.

Expensive water filtering unit

This works really well for filtering tap water. The water tastes crist and clean. It was alittle difficult to figure out because the instructions are very vague and it comes with extra pieces I had no clue where they went. Two different spickets for whatever reason. One plastic and one metal. Finally figured it all out and it works great. It comes with two filters but I only used one and saved one for later. The stand is a nice touch and it's really tall when put all together. Holds alot of water which is nice. It's really expensive for what you get which doesn't make sense to me. Definatly should be cheaper.
